Leather Home Theater Seating

June 10, 2008 by Shawn

Leather home theater seats are certainly not for the “casual rec rooms.” They have a look and feel that invokes quality and are also the most stylish seating options available — but you must either be really devoted to your rec room or own oil stocks, as leather carries a hefty price tag compared to other fabrics.

You have a variety of leather seating options and setups, including arena-style seats with rows or perhaps just a comfortable leather couch that you can watch The Matrix in HD over and over again on. Leather also comes in numerous colors, the most popular being brown, black, beige, red, and white. It’s also extremely durable, able to take beatings better from your kids or even the (gasp) mother-in-law than cloth fabrics.

Upgrading or improving your currently seating to leather makes a big difference in the amount of enjoyment you get out of your home theater — after all, you’re more than likely sitting on your couch quite a bit. By adding leather to your rec, television, or game room, you’re adding class and comfort and it can be accomplished relatively cheap by simply putting one, or even two couches together in an L-shape. This setup looks good positioned either in the center of the television, or against a corner of a wall.

This should be enough seating for you, your family, and a couple of guests.

For an even more realistic kick and a bigger increase in your television viewing pleasure, buying and adding leather recliner seating to your home theater gives you the movie theater at home, without the ringing cell phones, teens and the lady behind you kicking your seat (unless, again, you invite your mother-in-law).

Leather home theater reclining sets are basically rows of recliners connected as a single unit. They typically come in seats of three or four seats, while single add-on chairs are available to you as well. Not only do leather reclining chairs give you a more realistic movie theater experience, but they’re very user-friendly as most come with cup holders and arm rests.

The drawback on leather home theater recliners is that they’re usually more expensive then their leather couch counterparts. Not only are they more expensive, but you need to purchase numerous chairs to make your in-home theater a viable place for your family or a few friends to watch a movie.

Money, money, money.
For a couple sets of leather recliners, you’re talking $2,000 to $3,000. Leather sofas come in all different kinds of quality and colors, but they don’t have cheap entry-level items like fabric. A bottom of the line leather sofa will cost you at least $900 with high-quality leather seats costing upwards of $3,000.

If you’re considering setting up a massive home theater system or already have one and need the home theater furniture that comes with it: don’t buy something cheap. It’s better to not have anything to sit on for a while and save up for something nice then to simply buy something cheap and waste a perfectly good setup because you wanted to buy the floral fabric couch your buddy’s wife was selling.

Splurge and buy the quality, nice home theater seating. You’ll thank us. Your butt will too.
