Classic Video Arcade Games

June 10, 2008 by Shawn

Before the Wii, before Playstations, and before there were games that required a technical manual to operate existed a simple, extremely entertaining, family-friendly gaming universe. Classic video arcade games like Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man didn’t have the best graphics, nor did they have the most original story lines — but you didn’t have to worry about your kid watching you play. You could play literally for hours taking turns with your friends and/or your family.

It didn’t matter how old you were, the classic video arcade games rocked — and they still do. And unlike games at arcades today, they didn’t take take credit cards — they took what we call “quarters,” physical currency — remember what that was?

While the majority of video arcade games you buy for your game room or rec room come without the quarter-slots, you could always have them installed and make a small fortune off of your friends.

9. Robotron
8. Q*Bert
7. Centipede
6. Missile Command
5. Gauntlet
4. Space Invaders
3. Donkey Kong
2. Galaga
1. Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man

This list is certainly debatable, but I believe these are some of the best classic video arcade games you can get for your home. They’re simple, fun for all ages, and are fairly easy to find. Do a search on eBay and you’ll probably find a used system anywhere from $750 - $2,500.
